Friday Jewelry Find: Peridot Birthstone Ring for August Birthdays

Each Friday we’ll post a “find” from the top, new and up-coming Simon G. Jewelry collections. Sometimes we’ll even show you collections that haven’t been officially released yet to get your feedback. As part of our social Inside Circle, we value your opinion on our handcrafted jewelry collections and want to include you in our design process as much as possible. Read all Friday Finds here.

We would like to wish our friends of Simon G. a very Happy Birthday! May all your wishes & dreams come true! In honor of your birthdays, we have picked a ring that embodies the birthstone of the month of August, Peridot.

Peridot is a Yellow Green stone that is formed as a result of volcanic activity. Peridot is believed to have originated from Egypt. In America, it was first discovered by the natives in the black sands of Hawaii and exemplified the tears of the volcano goddess, Pele. Records show that early Egyptian priests drank Soma from cups made out of Peridot, believing it would draw them closer to the goddess of nature, Isis. The name Peridot comes from the Arabic word "faridat," signifying gem. Ancient Egyptians referred to Paridot as the "gem of the sun," due to their glaring glow when seen in the desert sun. Today Peridot is mined in the U.S., Australia, Brazil, China, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar (Burma), Norway, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania.

We have selected this Simon G. Peridot ring as the ultimate birthstone gift of love and appreciation.
This Peridot and diamond ring is made with rich 18K white gold with bright diamonds (.97 ct) encircling a stone (5.33 Peridot). Truly a work of art!

In order to care for your Peridot, mix warm water with a spurt of dishwashing liquid in a small bowl. Place your jewelry in the bowl and let it immerse in the solution for a minute or two. Then use a soft brush if needed in order to clean your jewelry more thoroughly. Finally, give your jewelry a thorough rinsing, then dry it with a soft cloth.
