Friday Jewelry Find: Global Green USA collection, made with recycled guitar strings and musical instrument parts

Each Friday we’ll post a “find” from the top, new and up-coming Simon G. Jewelry collections. Sometimes we’ll even show you collections that haven’t been officially released yet to get your feedback. As part of our social Inside Circle, we value your opinion on our handcrafted jewelry collections and want to include you in our design process as much as possible. Read all Friday Finds here.

Today is Earth Day, so we wanted to take a minute to diverge from the usual Friday Jewelry Finds where we show you are new and up-coming jewelry pieces and collections, to talk a bit about a sustainable collection we put together a year ago, which is still available and 30 percent of all proceeds benefit Global Green USA. At Simon G., we value the environment and “going green,” so wanted to highlight our Global Green USA sustainable collection this year for you on Earth Day!

Hratch Ghanimian, Simon G.’s son, used his passion for music to inspire the design of the line, which is made of recycled steel, silver and brass from musical instruments. Used guitar and bass strings and frets provide the majority of the materials for the production of the line, which retails for between $150.00 to $300.00 dollars, providing an affordable yet eco friendly option to fashion!

Below is a ladies sterling silver bracelet from the Global Green USA collection – you can see how the bracelet is made from recycled guitar strings. Perfect for a music lover!

Thirty percent of the proceeds from this collection are gifted to Global Green USA, the American arm of President Gorbachev’s Green Cross International, which was founded in 1994, and is a national leader in advocating for smart solutions to climate change. For more than 15 years, Global Green has helped green nearly $20 billion nationally in affordable housing, school, and municipal building construction that saves energy, reduces CO2 emissions, improves health and creates green jobs.

Happy Earth Day AND Friday!
